Hyderabad: Kollywood actor VTV Ganesh has revealed that Vijay's upcoming film, Thalapathy 69, is a remake of the Telugu hit Bhagavanth Kesari. The announcement came during a promotional event for Sankranthiki Vastunnam.
Ganesh shared that Vijay was so impressed with Bhagavanth Kesari that he watched it five times. The actor reportedly approached director Anil Ravipudi to remake the film in Tamil, but Anil declined for reasons unknown.
Directed by Ajith‘s Valimai fame director, H. Vinoth, Thalapathy 69 will also feature Pooja Hegde as the female lead. Vijay and Pooja were last seen together in Nelson Dilipkumar’s Beast.
Bhagavanth Kesari, which starred Balakrishna, Kajal Aggarwal, Sreeleela, Arjun Rampal, Sarathkumar and VTV Ganesh, received positive reviews for its performances and storyline.
While the official release date for Thalapathy 69 has not been announced, it is expected to hit the screens in October 2025. This film will be Vijay’s final project before entering politics.
