Thalapathy Vijay’s marriage is a big turning point in his life.

Chengalpattu. Sangeetha Sornalingam, wife of iconic Tamil cinema actor Thalapathy Vijay, has filed a petition for divorce in the Chengalpattu Family Court on February 27, 2026. The move marks a significant change in their relationship. Thalapathy Vijay, who is not only a successful actor but also the founder of Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam, has not yet given any official reaction on the matter. The court is hearing further on this petition. This decision has come after 27 years of marriage.

Vijay and Sangeeta got married on August 25, 1999 in a grand ceremony which was attended by many big film stars. Vijay is a Christian, while Sangeeta belongs to the Hindu community. The two got married as per Hindu rituals and hosted a grand reception in Chennai.

Children’s life and career

After their marriage, their first child, a son named Jason Sanjay Vijay, was born on 26 August 2000. Subsequently, in 2005, their daughter Divya Sasha was born. Currently, Jason Sanjay, now grown up, has started his career as a director in the Tamil film industry.
