Thane Bhiwandi Metro | Mumbai Metro has undergone a major expansion in the past few years. Metro is running on many important routes to make the journey of Mumbaikars very easy and in less time. Recently, the first metro was run in Mumbai followed by Thane district. Now Thane is going to get another new metro. This metro will connect Bhiwandi from Thane city. At present, the work of this metro is in progress and it will enter the service of passengers by January 2027.

This project is currently being worked on at a fast pace. According to the officials, the construction of this route is likely to be completed by December 2026. After that, it is estimated to start the service for passengers from January 2027. This will save commuters from the daily commute, traffic and secondly, the working class will save a lot of time. Earlier, a high-level meeting was organized at the Bhiwandi Municipal Corporation headquarters under the chairmanship of Mayor Narayan Chaudhary. The meeting was attended by MLA Mahesh Chowghule, Municipal Commissioner Anmol Sagar along with officials of MMRDA and Metro Authority. The meeting discussed the metro project, ongoing infrastructure works in the city and overall planning of transport. Welcoming this metro project, Mayor Narayan Chaudhary expressed the need for proper maintenance of the area around the metro corridor and urged the metro administration to take full responsibility of maintaining cleanliness in these areas. About 3,771 crore rupees are being spent on this project, through which the area will be developed on a large scale. This metro project will be very important for the development of Thane city and to solve traffic congestion.

Meanwhile, some decisions are still pending regarding the next phase from Bhiwandi to Kalyan. A final decision has not been taken on whether this section will be done via subway or via an elevated road. Hence this may affect further work schedule.
