Thanks to Amazon and Reliance in Maharashtra, rain of lakhs of jobs
This could prove to be an opportunity for Maharashtra with 'five fingers in the ghee and head in the pan'. Reliance Industries and Amazon Web Services (AWS) have announced huge investments in the state. While Reliance Industries is going to invest Rs 3.05 lakh crore, Amazon Web Services is going to invest Rs 71,800 crore. These two big investments are going to boost employment and economic development in the state.
Amazon Web Service's investment of Rs 71,800 crore
AWS, the cloud computing arm of e-commerce giant Amazon, will invest $8.3 billion (about Rs 71,800 crore) to increase its cloud infrastructure capacity in Maharashtra. This investment will be made till 2030 and will strengthen the cloud data centers under AWS Asia-Pacific (Mumbai) region.
81,300 jobs will be created
This investment by AWS will create 81,300 full-time jobs in Maharashtra by 2030. Along with this, it will contribute $15.3 billion to India's GDP and further strengthen the data center supply chain.
Reliance's big investment of Rs 3.05 lakh crore
During the ongoing World Economic Forum in Switzerland, Reliance Industries signed an MoU for investment of Rs 3.05 lakh crore in Maharashtra. This investment is expected to create more than 3 lakh jobs in new energy, retail, hospitality and high-tech manufacturing sectors.
Anant Ambani signed the agreement, and CM Devendra Fadnavis called it a historic step towards development for Maharashtra.
Maharashtra: Towards becoming a data center hub
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said, “Our aim is to make Maharashtra the world capital of data centres. “This investment by Amazon Web Services will not only strengthen the IT infrastructure of the state, but will also provide new opportunities for innovation, economic growth and employment.”
Big investments have already been made
AWS had invested more than $3.7 billion in Maharashtra between 2016 and 2019. Now the new investment will further strengthen the digital and economic future of Maharashtra.
