That dark day of Bollywood, when the same date and the same mourning repeated again after 8 years

Entertainment Desk, New Delhi: Coincidences in life often surprise us. Sometimes they leave beautiful memories, and sometimes they leave wounds that cannot be forgotten. A similar surprising coincidence happened in the corridors of Bollywood too, which connected two ‘best friends’ to each other even after death. We are talking about ‘Cowboy’ Firoz Khan and ‘Handsome Hung’ Vinod Khanna.

That scary coincidence of death

As famous as the friendship between these two stars was, the coincidence between their deaths is discussed more than that. Vinod Khanna died on the same date on which his closest friend Firoz Khan left this world, exactly 8 years before him. The surprising thing is that both the actors breathed their last at the age of 70 and the reason for their death was the same – cancer. That date of 27th April became forever associated with the names of these two stars.

There was a wonderful couple on screen.

Vinod and Firoz’s chemistry was not only in real life but also on the big screen. Both of them gave life to their friendship in the 1980 film ‘Qurbani’. After this, in 1988 they were also seen together in ‘Dayavaan’, which was a remake of Mani Ratnam’s classic film ‘Nayakan’. But their friendship was much older than these films. They formed such a friendship on the sets of the film ‘Shankar Shambhu’ released in 1976 that both of them never looked back.

Firoz stood as a shield in bad times

There was a time when Vinod Khanna was giving tough competition to Amitabh Bachchan and had become the second biggest star of the industry. But suddenly he left Bollywood to go to Osho’s Ashram. There he became a gardener and started finding his peace away from the world of glamour. However, fate brought him back to films. When Vinod Khanna made a comeback, Feroz Khan was one of the first producers to welcome him with open arms and signed him for ‘Dayawan’.

That scene of the hospital and the last farewell

Firoz Khan was battling lung cancer. A few days before his death, Vinod Khanna along with his friend Dharmendra had reached the hospital to meet him. It is said that Vinod Khanna and Dharmendra started crying bitterly after seeing the condition of their friend. See the irony of nature that exactly after 8 years, Vinod Khanna himself fell victim to bladder cancer. On April 27, when the world was celebrating the 8th death anniversary of Firoz Khan, on the same day Vinod Khanna also said goodbye to this world.
