There was a stir in the Indirapuram police station area of ​​Ghaziabad, adjacent to Delhi, late on Saturday evening when a case of attempt to kidnap a girl by an e-rickshaw driver came to light. When the girl was returning home in a rickshaw, the driver started taking her on a deserted and wrong path. Due to the girl’s intelligence and noise, people nearby caught the accused and beat him severely.

According to the information, the victim is a resident of Gaur City Degree Gol Chakkar area. On Saturday night, she had boarded the e-rickshaw of a young man named Raju from Chhijarasi (NH-9) area. The victim alleges that instead of taking her to her destination, the driver deliberately turned towards a dark and unknown road. When the girl suspected that the route was wrong and the place was quite deserted, she got very scared and started making loud noises.

The crowd got angry and beat up the driver.

Hearing the screams of the girl, passersby and local people passing by the road immediately gathered at the spot. People surrounded the e-rickshaw from all sides and pulled down the accused driver. Fearing kidnapping, the angry mob beat the accused Raju fiercely. On receiving the information, Indirapuram police arrived and freed the accused from the clutches of the mob and took him into custody and brought him to the police station.

Police action and investigation

The arrested accused Raju is a resident of near the liquor vend located in Kanavani village of Indirapuram. An interesting twist in this case came when the victim and her family refused to give a written complaint to the police.

ACP Indirapuram said that since no formal complaint has been received from the victim’s side, as a precautionary measure the police has challaned the accused driver under section 151 for breach of peace. However, the police is investigating in depth what was the intention of the driver and why was he changing the route and going to a deserted place. Further legal action will be taken on the basis of whatever facts emerge after the inquiry.
