The 26th Annual General Conference of the Indian Senior Citizens Committee (Bhavna) was organized
Lucknow. Indian Senior Citizens Committee in the Capital, Lucknow, is an all India level apolitical, not-for-profit, voluntary organization headquartered at Lucknow. Its branches are in Sonbhadra Noida (NCR Delhi and Unnao district. It also has nineteen associate organizations. Including Lucknow and other branches, it has more than one thousand members. Its registration was done in the year 2000 under the Society Registration Act 1860. It is an organization dedicated to the service of senior citizens, destitute women, widowed women, and disabled persons.
The following public welfare works are especially done by Bhavana. For the cooperation of Bhavna members, agreements (MOUs) have been signed with many famous hospitals of Lucknow, such as Apollo Medics Hospital, Max Hospital, Aastha Geriatric Hospital, Medanta Hospital, Apex Acupuncture Center Hospital, S.C. Trivedi Memorial Trust Hospital, Sudhanshu Aggarwal Dental Clinic, Awadh Hospital, due to which Bhavna members get affordable and accessible treatment.
Every year, Bhavna provides education assistance through schools in the form of partial reimbursement of fees to about 150 poor and talented students from class 1 to 12. New students from classes 1 to 8 are selected. Then, among these students, those who score more than 60 percent marks are provided assistance for education up to class 12. Students who pass class 12 and go for graduate education are given educational assistance on the basis of their circumstances and marks obtained by them. This year students have been given assistance for graduation education.
Apart from this, Bhavna provided complete education to two girl students for B.Tech and one student for Diploma in Mechanical Engineering. Through Bhavna, every year 10 camps are organized in the rural areas of Lucknow district and surrounding districts and the villagers are given information about various public welfare schemes of the Central Government and the State Government. After this, 100 new woolen blankets and old useful clothes are distributed per camp to the poor, elderly, widowed women, disabled and weak helpless persons.
Every year in the winter season, Vriddhi Free Medical Camp is organized jointly by Bhavana with Aastha Geriatric Hospital and SC Trivedi Memorial Hospital. Different diseases are tested by different doctors and various tests worth thousands of rupees are done free of cost. As per the advice of doctors, necessary medicines for one week to 10 days are given free of cost. This year this camp was organized at Bal Nikunj Inter College, Mahabullapur. 32 stalls were set up in the camp in which tests and consultations were conducted by doctors of various disciplines and medicines were distributed accordingly.
Every year medical camps are organized at different places in the district so that people from many areas can benefit. Apart from the above works, various cultural programs are organized on the occasion of picnic, Holi New Year through environmental protection, tree planting, cleanliness, women empowerment and cultural cell. People above 80 years of age are honored from time to time and a sentiment message is published every three months which provides information for the use of senior citizens.
Through Brahma Cell, senior citizens are taken on tours in the country and abroad and participate in seminars and conferences of national and international organizations. Also, keeping in view the needs of senior citizens, demands are made through correspondence and demonstrations at the state and national level. In this way, other works are also done from time to time for senior citizens, poor, destitute, handicapped and widows. All the above mentioned programs of Bhavna are carried out with the financial support grant of Bhavna members. In this, no grant is taken from any other agency or government.
