Aadhaar-PAN linking deadline is over, linking can still be done
Big news has come out regarding Aadhaar-PAN linking at the beginning of the financial year 2026-27. The deadline set by the government has been met, but despite this many taxpayers can still do the process of linking their Aadhaar and PAN.
Deadlines and Rules
The deadline for linking Aadhaar and PAN has ended. The government had already advised taxpayers to complete this process on time. If Aadhaar-PAN is not linked then the person may face problems in transactions and tax returns done through PAN card.
Linking is still possible
Although the deadline is over, the Income Tax Department has clarified that taxpayers can still link their Aadhaar and PAN through the online portal or offline. For this, the process of linking can be completed by logging into the website of the Income Tax Department.

offline option
If a person is not able to do the linking online, he can also link Aadhaar-PAN by visiting the nearest Income Tax Facilitation Center (TAC). For this it is necessary to carry the original and copy of both PAN and Aadhaar.
Why is linking important?
The main objective of Aadhaar-PAN linking is to ensure the identity of the taxpayer and simplify tax matters. If PAN and Aadhaar are not linked, the taxpayer may face notices, penalties or problems in return filing.
Expert advice
Tax and finance experts point out that delaying the linking could lead to disruptions in income tax return processing and tax payments in future. Therefore, taxpayers who have not yet been able to do the linking are advised to complete the process immediately.
