The accused of murder of grandson reached the election field straight from jail to file nomination with handcuffs.

Pune: A man arrived in Pune, Maharashtra to file nomination papers for the Municipal Corporation elections. The special thing is that his face was covered with clothes and both his hands were tied with a rope. He was brought to the government office under police protection, where everyone was shocked to see this scene. Later it came to light that this person was not an ordinary candidate, but Bandu Andekar, a notorious criminal lodged in Yerwada Central Jail on charges of murder of his grandson, who was brought out to file nomination after getting conditional permission from the court.

Voting is to be held for Pune Municipal Corporation as well as 28 other municipalities of Maharashtra on January 15. In such a situation, filing nomination of an accused in jail has become a topic of discussion at both political and social levels. While going inside the nomination centre, he also raised slogans in his support, due to which an atmosphere of commotion was created there for some time.

Entry into the election field as an independent candidate

Bandu Andekar filed his nomination as an independent candidate in the Municipal Corporation elections. Along with him, other family members have also entered the electoral fray. Andekar’s sister-in-law Lakshmi Andekar and daughter-in-law Sonali Andekar have also filed their nomination papers. The special thing is that both these women are also accused in the same murder case, in which Bandu Andekar is lodged in jail.

Bandu Andekar’s lawyer Mithun Chauhan told the media that the three accused have filed nomination as independent candidates in the Bhawani Peth ward office of Pune Municipal Corporation. He said that this entire process was completed as per the order and prescribed conditions of the court.

Ayush was murdered on 5th September

It is noteworthy that on September 5, Ayush Komkar was shot dead in Nana Peth area. Ayush was the son of Ganesh Komkar. Ganesh Komkar has been a former councilor of the Nationalist Congress Party and he is also an accused in an old case of murder of Vanraj Andekar, son of Bandu Andekar.

Many accused in judicial custody

Bandu alias Suryakant Ranoji Andekar (70), Lakshmi Udaykant Andekar (60), Sonali Vanraj Andekar (36), resident of Nana Peth and 15 other people are said to be allegedly involved in the murder of Ayush. At present all the accused are in judicial custody and the investigation of the case is going on.
