The acquittal of Kejriwal and Sisodia exposed the arbitrariness of the investigating agencies: Mehbooba Mufti
Srinagar : People’s Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti on Friday said the court’s acquittal of former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and other Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders in a corruption case has exposed the ‘arbitrariness’ of the investigating agencies. Mufti posted on
He said that when agencies are used as political weapons, justice becomes the first victim and the truth comes out only after ‘years of pain and tears’. “Prima facie there is no case,” he said. There is no reliable evidence either. Yet (these leaders) were kept in captivity for years. There is nothing more dangerous than abuse of power and using institutions as weapons. Yet, all this continues unabated.”
In a major relief to Arvind Kejriwal and former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, a Delhi court on Friday acquitted them in a politically sensitive liquor policy case. The court refused to take cognizance of the CBI chargesheet. Apart from these two leaders, 21 more accused were acquitted by the court in this case.
