The Aprilia SR 175 Tribute Edition Is A Cosmetic Makeover That Costs Rs. 2,000 Extra

The Aprilia SR 175 Tribute Edition is priced at Rs 1.21 lakh, ex-showroom. It is Rs 2,000 more than the standard SR 175 that was already on sale. The Tribute Edition is inspired by the Indian Armed Forces and carries a military camouflage livery with red and yellow accents. There is a 5-year warranty covering 60,000 km, one year of free service, and two years of roadside assistance included. Those are the differences. Everything else is identical to the existing SR 175.

The mechanical carry-over is total. The 174.4cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine produces 13.08 bhp at 7,200 rpm and 14.14 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm, paired with a CVT. Top speed is 95 kmph.

The steel frame, 14-inch alloy wheels, telescopic front fork, and adjustable rear monoshock all carry over without change. Braking is a 220mm front disc with single-channel ABS. The 5-inch TFT instrument console with Bluetooth, turn-by-turn navigation, LED headlamp, and LED tail lamp are all present, exactly as they are on the standard SR 175.

For Rs 2,000 over the standard SR 175, the Tribute Edition offers the camouflage colour scheme and the extended warranty and service package. The free service for one year has a real monetary value, as does two years of roadside assistance.

If you were planning to buy a standard SR 175 anyway and these benefits were available as a standalone service package, they would likely cost more than Rs 2,000 to purchase separately. Viewed through that lens, the Tribute Edition is not an expensive choice relative to the standard variant.

The SR 175 itself remains a well-specified scooter for its price. A 174cc engine in the scooter segment is unusual. Most premium scooters top out at 160cc, and the power and torque figures the SR 175 produces allow it to carry a pillion at highway speeds without strain. The TFT display with navigation is genuinely useful for urban riding and is not standard on most scooters at this price point.

At Rs 1.21 lakh, the SR 175 Tribute Edition competes with the TVS NTorq 125 Race Edition at around Rs 99,000, the Honda Activa 6G at Rs 85,000, and the Suzuki Burgman Street EX at approximately Rs 95,000.

All of these are 125cc machines, which makes the displacement and performance gap between the SR 175 and its price-adjacent rivals significant. The more direct competition comes from the Aprilia SR 160, positioned slightly below at around Rs 1.15 lakh, and the Yamaha Aerox 155 at approximately Rs 1.40 lakh.

The Aerox 155 is the closest rival in terms of performance character, liquid-cooled, variable valve actuation, and built on a sportier platform, and it asks Rs 19,000 more. For buyers who want the performance scooter experience without the Yamaha’s price, the SR 175 Tribute Edition remains a reasonable choice at Rs 1.21 lakh.

Whether the camouflage livery appeals is entirely personal. Aprilia has produced Army-green and olive-toned liveries before on various models globally. The SR 175 in its standard colour options remains available alongside the Tribute Edition, so buyers who want the mechanicals without the theme have the option.
