The Boys actor Antony Starr says fans won’t stop trolling him with ‘milk’ jokes

Antony Starr has revealed that fans still can’t resist teasing him over one of The Boys’ most bizarre running gags.

The actor who plays the unhinged superhero Homelander said the character’s strange obsession with milk has followed him into real life becoming a joke fans repeatedly bring up.

Speaking on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Starr admitted the gag comes up so often that it’s become predictable.

“Yeah, like it’s the first time. Like it’s the best joke they can think of,” he said.

He recalled one moment at a restaurant where even the staff joined in on the joke.

“Waiters will play it super cool, then they’ll take the drinks order and be like, ‘How about you, sir? Milk?’” he shared.

“And I’m like, ‘You devil, how’d you come up with that?’”

Starr said he usually declines the drink but acknowledges the humour behind the reference.

The running joke stems from Homelander’s unsettling fixation with milk in the hit Prime Video series which has become one of the character’s most talked-about traits.

According to Starr the odd detail wasn’t accidental and quickly became something the creators leaned into.

He revealed that after filming an early scene he reached out to showrunner Eric Kripke to highlight how effective the moment was.

“As we finished the scene, I called Eric… and said, ‘It’s really funny — we’ve got to do more with that,’” Starr explained.

Kripke’s response? “Way ahead of you.. I’m writing it into every episode.”

The Boys has built a reputation for pushing boundaries with dark humour and shocking character traits.

Homelander’s milk obsession has become one of its most iconic and unsettling running gags.

Season 5 of the show is set to continue soon with new episodes rolling out in April.
