Jack Quaid details his emotional reaction to his The Boys Season 5 ending
Jack Quaid has opened up about the tearful moment he learned his character Hughie’s ending in The Boys Season 5.
In a June 10 interview with the Los Angeles Timesthe 34-year-old reflected on The Boys giving its surviving characters happy endings. Hughie and Annie (Erin Moriarty) get a future together, complete with a daughter, a twist that moved Quaid to tears.
In The Boys Season 5 finale, Hughie turns down a White House job and, with Annie, runs an AV repair shop during the day while taking down rogue supes at night. One of the last scenes shows Annie behind the shop counter with a clear baby bump. However, that doesn’t keep her from flying out to fight crime after dark. Jack Quaid’s Hughie and Annie name their daughter Robin after Hughie’s girlfriend from The Boys Season 1.
“Erin made fun of me on the day because I kept staring at her fake pregnant belly, because it was so surreal for me,” the Novocaine actor shared. “I’m not a father yet, but to me, the closest thing to being an expectant father was like, ‘Oh, my TV partner has a baby on the way!’”
Meanwhile, after enduring human trafficking, cruel experiments, and years of violent battles, Kimiko, played by Karen Fukuhara, finally gets a peaceful life in France. But it comes at a cost. She’s grieving Frenchie, Tomer Capone’s character, who Fukuhara says was Kimiko’s “soulmate” and “twin flame.”
Though The Boys flagship series has wrapped, Amazon is pushing the universe forward with two confirmed spinoffs: The Boys: Mexico and Vought Rising. For viewers who haven’t caught up, all of The Boys Season 5 is available now on Prime Video.
