Mahendra Singh Dhoni, one of the most successful captains of the Indian cricket team, turns 45 today. Today Dhoni and his fans are celebrating his birthday. Born on 7 July 1981 in Ranchi, Jharkhand, Dhoni made many such records in his cricket career, which included him in the list of great players of the world. Dhoni is recognized all over the world by the name of Captain Cool. His calm nature, ability to take accurate decisions in difficult situations and his talent to take the match to the end surprised everyone, due to which he is known as Captain Cool across the world.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s journey has been full of difficulties. It was not easy for him to reach international cricket. Before making his mark in cricket, he also worked as a ticket collector in Indian Railways. After consistently good performance in domestic cricket, he got a chance in the Indian team. Became captain in 2007
Dhoni took over the captaincy of the Indian team in the year 2007 and led India to the T20 World Cup title in the very first major tournament. After this, in 2011, under his captaincy, India also won the ODI World Cup. His six hit in the final match against Sri Lanka at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium is still counted among the most memorable moments in the history of Indian cricket. After this, in 2013, India also won the Champions Trophy under his captaincy. Dhoni is the only captain in the world who has won all three ICC white-ball trophies.
Played a brilliant innings against Pakistan
Dhoni played many memorable innings in ODI cricket which are still remembered by cricket fans. His innings of 148 runs against Pakistan and unbeaten 183 runs against Sri Lanka are still among his best performances. Due to his agility behind the wicket, quick stumping and accurate DRS decisions, he was also named Mr. DRS by the fans. Took retirement in 2020
Dhoni had announced his retirement from international cricket on 15 August 2020. More than 17 thousand runs are recorded in his name. He has played more than 500 matches for the Indian team and after that said goodbye to international cricket.
