SIR period may increase in UP, Chief Electoral Officer wrote a letter to the Commission, 80 percent forms have returned
New Delhi. It is almost certain to get more time for Special Intensive Review (SIR) in UP. BLOs have reported that the counting forms of about 17.7 percent (3.25 crore) voters have not been collected. According to highly placed sources, in view of this, the Chief Electoral Officer of the state Navdeep Rinwa has written a letter to the Election Commission, in which it has been decided to request for more time for the SIR.

A new decision can come any time before December 11. Earlier on November 30, the date for filling the enumeration form was extended from December 4 to December 11. There are more than 15.44 crore voters in the state. According to the Election Commission report, 97.3% work of digitization of counting forms has been completed.
17.7% forms not even submitted
80 percent of the enumeration forms have been returned in the state, while 17.7 percent of the forms are not in a position to be submitted. This figure is big. Therefore, UP Chief Electoral Officer Navdeep Rinwa has requested all political parties to help in collecting these forms. All District Election Officers were directed to check whether these forms are indeed not being returned.
Currently, the last date for filling the calculation form is December 11, and the last date for returning the form is December 11. According to sources, considering the request of the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Uttar Pradesh, more time can be given.
