The city once again choked with traffic jams due to poor system.

Prayagraj.During the Mahakumbh, the claim of making the traffic system smooth at various places in the city is continuously proving to be a failure. On Saturday, once again due to poor arrangements, there was a kilometer long traffic jam from Jhusi bridge to Alopi Bagh intersection. The vehicles kept moving slowly. Due to which the city as well as the devotees got worried. Due to the approach of Mauni Amavasya, crowd of vehicles has started gathering in the city since 10 days in advance. More devotees started arriving on Saturday morning than in the previous three days. Due to this, jam started at Fort Road intersection, Tinkonia, Sohbatiyabagh, Alopibagh Chungi, Bairahna intersection. From 12 noon onwards the traffic jam kept increasing.

Long queues of vehicles formed at New Yamuna Bridge, CMP Dot Bridge, Medical Square and other places. In view of this, the police force barricaded various intersections. Due to this, along with the four-wheeler driver, two-wheelers also got stuck. During this time, along with the traffic, the policemen from the local police stations were busy in clearing the jam, but the queue of vehicles was so much that they were not able to succeed. People had to struggle for hours to get out of the jam.

30 pontoon bridges have been built on the Ganga river in the Mahakumbh area but most of these are reserved for special guests only. Most of the bridges remain closed for common devotees. On Saturday, vehicles were being allowed to move through only one pontoon bridge between Chhatnag and Daraganj. Taking two wheelers on other bridges was also prohibited. Because of this people had to wander a lot. In Mahakumbh, 30 pontoons have been built on the Ganga river between Hetapatti and Arail.

It was also promoted as a big facility but the situation is that there is no traffic on most of them. Vehicular movement is allowed only on one pontoon bridge each between Sangam and Shastri. On others, vehicles are not being allowed to ply even at night. Both these bridges were also closed on Saturday. People coming from Jhusi side were given entry on bridge number 12. There is a lot of anger among the people regarding this. Pontoon bridge in front of Ramghat and doctors of Netra Kumbh were also stranded.

There was also a vehicle with SDM written on it. Many other vehicles were also parked in front and behind them. The security personnel told the doctors of Netra Kumbh that they can go but remove other people themselves. After this, the security personnel set up barriers and stood at a distance. This type of situation prevailed on many other bridges also. Due to this, people were very upset and angry.
