The colorful streets of Barsana woke up with the memories of Dwapar era, completely ready for Lathmar Holi.

Mathura: The excitement of the world famous Lathmar Holi has reached its peak in Barsana. Preparations for this unique Holi related to the love affair of Radha-Krishna have been completed in full swing. Especially Rangili Gali and the surrounding squares have been decorated with attractive wall paintings, which are presenting glimpses of the Dwapar period.

After tireless work of more than a month, a team of 16 artists have given a new look to these narrow streets with vibrant images of Radha-Krishna, Lathmar Holi themed scenes and colorful paintings. The paintings made at Rangili Chowk are so charming that devotees are unable to stop themselves from taking selfies and getting photographed standing in front of them.

Artist Dev Sharma said that this work is a matter of good fortune for him, Lord Shri Krishna and Radha Rani have entrusted him with this service. For the last three years, he has been making these paintings on new themes every year, which win the hearts of the visiting devotees.

Holi of Braj has its own significance. The festival here is not just a festival of colours, but a living embodiment of the divine love story of Radha-Krishna. In Lathmar Holi, women lovingly throw sticks at men, this tradition is reminiscent of the leela when Krishna used to come to tease Radha and her friends and faced sticks in return.
