FSSAI advises to throw away such oil.

Prolonged use of leftover cooking oil takes a toll on health. This oil gives rise to many diseases including heart attack, brain stroke, cancer, diabetes, liver problems. Due to repeated use of cooking oil and reheating it, toxic substances start forming in this oil. These increase free radicals in the body. Its use also increases swelling and obesity in the body. Again, eating things fried in oil increases trans fat rapidly in the body, which is unhealthy and causes many problems in the body like ulcer, acidity and stomach burning. If the problem of BP increases, swelling may also occur in the body.

How many times can you use leftover cooking oil?

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India advises that any type of cooking oil should not be used for frying more than twice. If you have used this oil twice then throw it away. This is because the total polar compound in the remaining oil exceeds 25 percent and it is no longer edible. After using this oil, cool it and then filter it through a fine filter. After this, after removing the particles present in it, store it in an airtight container. Use this oil as soon as possible but keep in mind that do not use it more than twice for frying things. By following these tips, the effect on the body can be reduced. According to the opinion of health experts, the best option is to throw away the oil used for frying.

ICMR's suggestion

The Indian Council of Medical Research says that generally, after frying in oil once, never use that oil for frying a second time. You can use this oil in small amounts for making things like vegetables and it is better to use this oil within a day or two. Following this suggestion, there is less impact on health.
