Cold air of AC gives relief, but can increase stiffness and pain in the body…

Lifestyle Desk – In the summer season, air conditioner i.e. AC has become the biggest need of the people. Be it home, office or car, people everywhere seek relief in the cold air. But sitting in AC continuously can also cause many problems for the body. Often people complain that after staying in AC for a long time, they start feeling pain in the body, stiffness in the muscles, stiffness in the neck or back. Experts believe that the main reason for this is dehydration of the body and the effect of cold air on the muscles.

Actually, AC air reduces the humidity of the environment. Due to this, the air in the room becomes dry and the body gradually starts losing water. When there is a lack of water in the body, the muscles become stiff and pain or strain may be felt in them. Many times people stay in AC the whole day but do not drink enough water, due to which the problem increases further.

Why does this happen

Health experts say that cold air also affects blood circulation. Due to continuous exposure to low temperature, the muscles of the body start shrinking, which causes stiffness. Complaints of pain in neck, shoulders, waist and knees are especially common. In people who already have arthritis, cervical or muscle related problems, the effect of AC becomes more visible.

Stiffness increases in the body

This problem is becoming common among people who sit in AC for hours in the office. Many people remain in AC even after returning home, due to which the body does not get a chance to come to normal temperature. This is the reason why gradually stiffness starts increasing in the body and fatigue is felt. However, this problem can be avoided by adopting some easy measures.

drink plenty of water

It is most important to drink adequate amount of water while staying in AC. Drinking 8 to 10 glasses of water a day helps in keeping the body hydrated. Apart from this, consumption of coconut water, lemon water and fruits is also considered beneficial.

keep the AC temperature correct

Experts advise that the temperature of the AC should not be kept too low. A temperature of 24 to 26 degrees Celsius is considered better for the body. Instead of sitting at one place for a long time, one should do some walking and stretching in between. This improves blood circulation and reduces stiffness in the muscles.

If you feel excessive pain or stiffness in the body, then light warm compress, yoga and exercise can also provide relief. Also, while sleeping at night, direct air of AC should be avoided on the body. By adopting small precautions, the coolness of AC can be enjoyed and the body can also be saved from pain and stiffness.
