The country will get its first bullet train on 15 August 2027: Railway Minister

New Delhi, January 1, 2026: A new chapter is about to be added in the history of Indian Railways. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishna made this announcement on Thursday. The Railway Minister announced that the country will get its first bullet train on August 15, 2027. Ashwini Vaishnave jokingly said, “Buy your bullet train ticket now, the train will come next year.” He clarified that the government is working diligently to complete the project within the stipulated time frame. Addressing the press conference, the Railway Minister also said that the complete testing and certification of Vande Bharat Sleeper train has been completed. Its first route is proposed to be Guwahati-Kolkata. In the coming days, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off the first Vande Bharat sleeper train on this route. This is a big milestone for the Railways.

Vaishnav further said that Vande Bharat Sleeper Train will provide passengers with world class facilities, safety and modern travel experience on long distance night journeys. It is noteworthy that in November last year, during his visit to Gujarat, Prime Minister Modi had also reviewed the progress of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad high-speed rail corridor. For this, Prime Minister Modi visited Surat Bullet Train Station, where he interacted with the engineers and workers involved in the work.

A video had also surfaced in which Prime Minister Modi was seen closely inspecting the work at Surat station. During this time, he had interacted with engineers and workers. He asked if there were any problems in the work and how they were working to ensure the success of the project. The workers reported that they were working diligently and carefully at every level. Prime Minister Modi also praised the hard work of the workers and said that this project is a matter of pride not only for Gujarat but for the entire country. The high-speed train project is an important step in modernizing the country’s transportation system and will provide faster and more convenient travel for passengers.
