Which companies are preparing to raise prices?

Mercedes-Benz

From January 1, 2026, Mercedes-Benz will increase the ex-showroom prices of its entire line-up by up to 2 percent. The company has explained that this price increase is due to increase in input cost, logistics cost and Euro-Rupee exchange rate. For example, a 2 per cent increase will increase the price of the GLS by around Rs 2.64 lakh to Rs 2.68 lakh, while the price of the E-Class could increase by Rs 1.57 lakh to Rs 1.83 lakh.

BMW

BMW had hiked the prices of its vehicles by up to 3 percent in September 2025 itself. Now the company is preparing to increase the price one more time from January 1, 2026. BMW attributes rising raw material costs, logistics costs and rupee weakness as the main reasons for this. This increase will be applicable on both CKD and CBU models. A 3 percent hike could increase the price of the BMW 3 Series by around Rs 1.81 lakh to Rs 1.85 lakh.

BYD

BYD company is going to increase the prices of its electric SUV Sealion 7 from January 1, 2026. However, the company has not yet announced the percentage of price hike or the reasons behind it. The comforting thing is that the customers who book till December 31 will get the vehicle at the old price.

MG Motor

MG Motor will also increase the prices of its cars by 2 percent from the new year i.e. 2026. The company has said that the price hike is due to rising manufacturing costs and macro-economic pressures. This increase will be applicable to all three types of vehicles namely petrol, diesel and electric. The price of the MG Windsor EV may increase by around Rs 30,000 to Rs 37,000, while the price of the MG Comet EV is likely to increase by Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000.

Nissan

From January 1, 2026, Nissan will increase the prices of its vehicles by up to 3 percent. The company has made this announcement ahead of the launch of the Gravite compact MPV. Gravite is expected to hit the market by March 2026. The price of Magnite was relieved this year due to the GST cut, but from January its price may increase by around Rs 17,000 to Rs 32,000.

Honda

Honda will also increase the prices of its cars from January 1, 2026. The company has stated that the main reason for this is the ever-increasing input costs. However, the exact percentage of price increase has not been announced yet.
