The figure of distribution of ration kits under ‘Meri Rasoi’ scheme crosses 25 lakhs, read in details
Meri Rasoi Yojana Punjab : The Punjab Government has accelerated its ongoing ration kit distribution campaign ‘Meri Rasoi’ with the aim of ensuring nutritional security for vulnerable families, under which about 25.03 lakh families have so far benefited. The aim of this campaign is to provide ration kits to 40.48 lakh eligible families across the state every quarter (three months).
Ration kits are being distributed in mission mode under this important initiative under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and active monitoring of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak.
One liter mustard oil included
Under this initiative, each eligible family is provided a ration kit, which has been designed keeping in mind the household food requirements. This kit includes two kilograms of pulses, two kilograms of sugar, one kilogram of salt, 200 grams of turmeric powder and one liter of mustard oil for monthly use. These ration kits are being provided in addition to the wheat already being distributed to eligible beneficiaries under the National Food Security Act, 2013.
The ration kits are manufactured by Markfed, while the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department is monitoring their distribution network across the state.
Fazilka ranks sixth with kits
Among the 25.03 lakh ration kits distributed so far, Ludhiana stands first with 2,71,433 kits. After this, Patiala is at second place with 1,83,694 kits, Bathinda is at third place with 1,52,020 kits, Amritsar is at fourth place with 1,44,082 kits, Sangrur is at fifth place with 1,42,444 kits and Fazilka is at sixth place with 1,39,759 kits.
Apart from this, 1,34,960 in Jalandhar, 1,30,362 in Sri Muktsar Sahib, 1,28,228 in border district Tarn Taran, 1,10,962 in Hoshiarpur, 1,04,069 in Firozpur, 1,02,695 in Gurdaspur, 88,914 in Mansa, 88,914 in Moga. 87,984, 80,305 in Fatehgarh Sahib, 75,637 in Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar (Mohali), 71,896 in Faridkot, 71,785 in Kapurthala, 70,037 in Pathankot, 64,950 in Barnala, 56,492 in Rupnagar, Malerkotla. 47,806 and 42,737 ration kits have been distributed in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar.
The objective of this initiative is to deliver not only grains but also essential proteins, edible oils and spices to the kitchens of eligible beneficiaries, so that balanced and nutritious food can be provided to the families covered under the scheme.
The kits reached the family on time
Continuous and effective monitoring of the distribution of ration kits is being done so that transparency can be ensured, adulterated materials can be stopped and kits can be delivered to every needy family on time. District Administration, Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department and local officials are working with full coordination to make this public welfare campaign successful.
