Dhurandhar lost his breath – the ‘dreaded’ face of the film became the reason for disappointment
A much-awaited film released recently was much talked about, but the reason was something which the audience had not expected at all. The character which was widely publicized in the trailer of the film as the most dreaded, the most powerful and the main villain of the story, as soon as the film came out, the same character proved to be a firecracker in the eyes of the audience.
While on one hand the makers created the marketing of the film around him, on the other hand the character could neither create fear nor leave an impact on the audience sitting in the theatre. This sparked strong reactions on social media, with people saying that the film’s most heavily promoted face had become the weakest link.
Trailer raised expectations
The trailer of the film took the internet by storm as soon as it was released. Due to the entry scene, background score and powerful dialogues, the audience felt that this time Bollywood is going to get a memorable villain.
The character was presented as if he was the soul of the story, and his every scene would double the thrill of the film.
But after the release of the film, it was revealed that many of the scenes shown in the trailer were either not in the film, or were shortened so much that the depth of the character could not be revealed.
Why did the character not play in the film?
According to cinema experts, the biggest weakness of the film was that the role for which curiosity was created in the audience was not given enough space in the script.
The character’s background appeared incomplete
The dialogues did not have the impact that the trailer had hoped for.
The characters felt weak and hastily written, even in the climactic moments
In such a situation, the atmosphere of tension and fear created within the audience could not last, and the impact of the character started waning.
Viewers’ anger on social media
As soon as the film was released, there was a flood of reactions on social media platforms. Many users wrote that the marketing of the film was completely misleading.
Some jokingly said-
“A lion was shown in the trailer, but it turned out to be a kitten in the film.”
On the other hand, some viewers said that the makers over-hyped the character just to create initial buzz, whereas the script did not give it the same strength.
Marketing versus reality—the debate rages again
This is not the first time that a film’s trailer has raised the expectations of the audience and the film has let them down.
While making a trailer, it is common to create excitement by adding the most impressive scenes, but when the same scenes do not live up to the expectations in the film, then the first question arises on the storytelling skills of the makers.
Film industry experts say that this incident once again reminds us that a strong character is not made just by a powerful entry or dangerous looks, but solid writing and steady screen presence is his real strength.
