President Draupadi Murmu participated in the second convocation ceremony held at AIIMS. Dear students, it is a privilege to receive education from a prestigious institute like AIIMS. By getting education from here, your talent would have developed further. The work of Medical Professionals is full of responsibility. Many times your decisions are related to survival. I think that you are aware of this responsibility and you will fulfill your responsibilities with full dedication and ability. As medical professionals, you often face situations that are very challenging. To cope with them, you learn to control your emotions. There is very little difference between acting without emotion and lacking sensitivity.
Many eminent and best doctors of the world have advised medical professionals to work with human values. Among them Dr. The name of Francis Weld Peabody is very important. His article titled “The Care of the Patient” is advised to be read by students in many medical institutions of the world. In this article he writes and I quote “The treatment of a disease may be entirely impersonal; the care of a patient must be completely personal.” Unquote I understand that when you chose this field of work, you must have had ideals of kindness, compassion and sensitivity in your mind. You always have to remember that these human values make us strong. Therefore, always work with these life values in your workplace. This will give you success in your work field and your life will be meaningful.
Ladies and gentlemen, the Government of India is making continuous efforts to provide health services to all the citizens of the country. In the last decade, several steps have been taken to provide Universal Health Coverage to the countrymen. Now citizens above seventy years of age are also getting benefits under 'Ayushman Bharat Yojana'. Affordable and quality medicines are being made available to the people through 'Pradhan Mantri Bharatiya Jan Aushadhi Pariyojana'. Medical colleges and MBBS and PG seats have also increased in the last ten years. New AIIMS have also been established.
AIIMS Institute (AIIMS Raipur Convocation) is known for providing good health care services and medical education at low cost. The countrymen have faith in AIIMS institutions. I have been told that many works are being done by AIIMS Raipur for medical and public welfare. This institute is working to eradicate malnutrition with national and international cooperation. Patients are provided treatment in the Sickle Cell Clinic here. Awareness camps are also organized for identification of sickle cell patients.
We are going through a period in which modern technologies are influencing our lives at a very fast pace. These latest technologies can be used for the welfare of people in remote areas. It is a matter of joy that AIIMS Raipur is making efforts in this direction. I am told that AIIMS Raipur is working on Artificial Intelligence powered Clinical Decision Support System. Through this, real time help will be provided to doctors in remote areas in emergency situations. These works being done by AIIMS Raipur will improve community health and improve the lives of citizens. I hope that in the coming times this institute will further expand its work in public interest.
Dear students, we have set a target of becoming a developed nation by the year 2047. The work done by your generation will play a decisive role in fulfilling this national resolve. You have to give priority to the work of serving the deprived sections. People who are resourceful may have many options. But the hopes of the deprived class people rest on you only. Therefore, I advise you to always be ready to serve all people, especially the helpless ones. Moving from student life to professional life is a significant change.
