The game of expensive petrol is over! Hero MotoCorp’s first flex-fuel bike will be launched on June 3, both expenses and pollution will reduce.
A big and relief news is coming for the common man in the Indian two-wheeler market who travels long distances every day and is troubled by the ever increasing petrol prices. The country’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer Hero MotoCorp is preparing to create a new history in the Indian market. The company is going to officially launch its first flex fuel bike on June 3, 2026. The importance of this historic launching event can be gauged from the fact that the country’s Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari and Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri will also be specially present in it. Automobile experts believe that this new bike of Hero is not just a new model, but it is the beginning of a new and cheap fuel era in India’s transportation sector. After all, what is this ‘flex fuel’ technology? In simple words, flexible fuel technology means an engine that does not depend only on traditional petrol. This engine can run on a mixture of petrol as well as ethanol or completely on ethanol without any interruption. Ethanol is a type of eco-friendly biofuel, which is mainly produced from crops like sugarcane, corn and spoiled grains. For example, if E85 fuel comes in the market, it would mean that the fuel would contain 85% ethanol and only 15% petrol. Currently, most of the new vehicles in India are being made compatible with E20 (20% ethanol mix) fuel, but the government aims to promote more ethanol based fuel in the future, which is much cheaper than petrol. Splendor or HF Deluxe: In which avatar will this new bike come? Hero MotoCorp has not yet revealed the official name of this new bike or its look. But according to the internal reports and speculations of the auto world, this bike can be based on the platform of India’s most popular and best-selling commuter bikes ‘Splendor’ or ‘HF Deluxe’. Important information leaked: The design and structure of the flex fuel prototype bike that Hero MotoCorp displayed at the ‘Bharat Mobility Global Expo’ was largely similar to the HF Deluxe. Therefore, it is fully expected that keeping in mind the budget of the general public, the company will launch its first flex-fuel bike in this affordable segment. Available and upcoming flex-fuel vehicles in the Indian market (At a Glance) Currently, the choice of flex fuel vehicles in the Indian market is very limited, but after the entry of Hero, this race is going to gain momentum: Company Name Vehicle Model Vehicle Type Current Status Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 Sports Bikes Available in the Market (Price starts from around ₹ 1.98 lakh) Hero MotoCorp Potential Splendor / HF Deluxe Budget Commuter Bike Grand Launch on June 3, 2026 Maruti Suzuki Likely WagonR Family Car Likely to Launch Soon (Testing Ongoing) Note: Honda had also showcased a flex-fuel bike in the past, but its commercial plans were later put on hold. Why is this step special for the common man and the country? If flex fuel technology becomes completely successful in India, it will have far reaching and very spectacular results: Less burden on the pocket: Ethanol is produced domestically through agriculture, hence it is much cheaper than petrol. This will improve the monthly budget of middle class people who go to office or work daily. Freedom from pollution: Emission of carbon monoxide and other harmful gases due to burning of ethanol is greatly reduced, which will clean the climate of cities. Economic strength of the country: At present, India imports most of the crude oil required from other countries, due to which billions of rupees go out of the country. Increasing use of ethanol will reduce our dependence on crude oil and will directly benefit the farmers of our country.
