imbalance of demand and supply
The main reason for increasing prices of pulses in India is the imbalance in demand and supply.
- Production in 2024: 2.45 crore tonnes
- Demand for 2024: 2.7 crore tonnes
Prices of pulses are increasing due to high demand and low supply.
Current status of the scheme
At present, some e-commerce platforms have started selling cheap pulses, but it has not been completely successful yet. The government is putting pressure on e-commerce companies to participate fully in this scheme so that affordable pulses can reach more and more consumers.
