Government made big changes in NPS, now open your pension account easily

The government has announced an important update in the National Pension System (NPS), making it easier for investors and new account holders to become a part of retirement fund schemes. Step by step process to open NPS account:

Registration on online portal:
First of all go to the official website of NPS or CRA (Central Recordkeeping Agency) portal. Here click on “New Subscriber” or “Open Account” option.

Filling personal details:
Enter your name, date of birth, PAN card number, Aadhar card and contact details in the registration form.

KYC Verification:
Your mobile number and email ID will be verified through OTP. After this Aadhaar based e-KYC is completed.

Bank Account Details:
Linking bank account is mandatory for NPS account. Verify by entering IFSC code and account number in it.

Selection of investment amount:
You can choose your initial investment amount when opening an account. The government has also made it accessible to common investors by reducing the minimum investment amount.

PRAN Card Generation:
After entering all the details your Permanent Retirement Account Number (PRAN) will be generated. This is your NPS account number, which you can use for all future transactions and investments.

Uploading funds from online portal:
Now you can deposit the investment amount in your NPS account. On this amount you will get tax benefits and pension security for a long period.

Experts say that opening an NPS account has now become much easier and faster than before. The move comes under the government’s Digital India initiative and retirement finance scheme.
