Nahay Khay rules
- On the day of Nahay Khay, first of all the entire house is cleaned.
- A person observing Chhath fast should wake up early in the morning and take bath etc. on the day of Nahay Khay.
- If possible, wear new clothes on the day of bathing. Apart from this, you can also wear clean clothes.
- After this water should be offered to Lord Sun.
- First offer the food of Nahay Khay to Sun God and only then consume it.
- On the day of Nahay Khay, prepare only satvik food. One should not eat onion and garlic on this day.
- There is a tradition of eating pumpkin vegetable, gourd, gram dal and bhaat (rice).
- The fasting person should be the first to eat the food prepared on the day of Nahay Khay. Only after this other members of the family eat.
- On the day of Nahay Khay, family members should also eat Satvik food.
