Delhi: The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has made it clear before the auction of the upcoming The Hundred tournament that fairness will be maintained in the selection of any player. This statement was issued after reports which claimed that four teams associated with IPL franchises may impose an unofficial ban on Pakistani players. The ECB and all the franchises jointly said that the basis of selection will be only performance, availability and strategic needs of the team.

14 Pakistani players from long list included in final shortlist

A total of 710 players had registered for the men’s auction, of which 63 Pakistani players were included in the initial long list. Franchises were asked to limit the number of their preferred players to around 75 to 100. After this the list was reduced to 243 players, in which 14 Pakistani cricketers have got a place. These include Haris Rauf, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Shadab Khan, Usman Tariq, Saim Ayyub, Abrar Ahmed, Mohammad Nawaz, Naseem Shah, Mohammad Aamir, Zaman Khan, Usama Mir, Imad Wasim, Akif Javed and Salman Mirza.

Auction begins with international stars

Haris Rauf, who was recently left out of the World Cup team, has been included in the 10 marquee players of the men’s auction. The auction to be held on March 12 will start with these prominent names. Domestic marquee players include Jonny Bairstow, Adil Rashid, James Vince, Jordan Cox and Joe Root, while names like Aiden Markram, David Miller, Sunil Narine, Daryl Mitchell are prominent in the list of foreign marquee players.

Sahibzada Farhan did not get place

Sahibzada Farhan, who was among the batsmen who scored the most runs in the T20 World Cup 2026, had expressed hope of selection, but he could not even get a place in the long list. The discussion in the cricket world has intensified due to his stay away.

Pakistan’s historic participation in women’s category

Pakistan’s two international players Fatima Sana and Sadia Iqbal have been included in the auction list of women’s category. This is the first time that Pakistani women players are going to get an opportunity in the tournament. The women’s auction will be held on March 11 in Piccadilly, London, while the men’s players’ auction will be held on March 12. Key marquee players in the women’s category include Danny Gibson, Sarah Glenn, Amy Jones, Tammy Beaumont, Davina Perrin, Nadine de Klerk, Sophie Devine, Beth Mooney, Sophie Molineau and Deepti Sharma.
