Indian Army has changed the rules for using social media for soldiers, now they will not be able to do this work on Instagram.

New Delhi. The Indian Army has issued a new policy on the use of social media apps for soldiers. It clarified how army personnel can use social media apps. According to the information, apps like Instagram can now be used only for viewing and monitoring information. Young people cannot comment or share their opinions on Instagram. At the same time, sharing of general and non-sensitive information has been allowed on apps like Skype, WhatsApp, Telegram and Signal.

But such information can be shared only with identified people. It will be the responsibility of the user to correctly identify someone and send the information. Apart from this, platforms like YouTube, X, Quora and Instagram can be viewed only to get information or learn. One’s own content can never be uploaded on these platforms. Whereas LinkedIn can be used only for uploading resume or obtaining job/employee related information. Army officials say that this step has been taken to ensure the safety of soldiers and protection of sensitive information.
