What was said in the DGCA investigation report?
The DGCA report on the IndiGo flight crisis has said that the airline management failed to identify the flaws in the planning in time. Adequate operational buffer was not maintained and revised flight duty rules were not properly implemented. IndiGo’s entire focus was on maximum utilization of crew, flight and network resources. This reduced the roster buffer considerably. Crew rosters were made in such a way that the duty time could be maximized. This resulted in a large number of flights being delayed and cancelled, causing immense inconvenience to passengers.
Apart from imposing fine on IndiGo in this case, DGCA has also asked the airline to deposit a bank guarantee of Rs 50 crore. Along with this, instructions have been given to remove the Senior Vice President from operational responsibilities and not to appoint him on any accountable post in future.
