The Kerala Story 2: After 16 scenes were cut, the film got UA 16+ certificate, will be released on this day

The Kerala Story 2: The film The Kerala Story 2 Goes Beyond has received permission for release from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). However, this approval has been given after many cuts and changes. The film has been given U/A 16+ certificate. Meanwhile, the hearing on the petitions filed demanding a ban on the release of the film is still going on.

Instructions to make about 16 changes

According to reports, CBFC had asked for about 16 cuts or changes in the film. Especially orders were given to reduce the scenes related to kissing and rape.

The kissing and rape scenes shown in the film were reduced by about 50 percent. A lip-lock scene was shortened by seven seconds, while a rape scene was cut by 20 seconds. Apart from this, the scenes involving slapping a woman and hitting her on the head in another scene were also reduced by two seconds each.

Changes in bulldozer scene and dialogue also

The CBFC also asked for changes in a scene in which an accused’s house was shown being demolished with a bulldozer. Along with this, three dialogues of the film were changed and one word was muted.

Disclaimer and document submission conditions

The board also directed the filmmakers to make it clear at the beginning of the film that the story is based on true events. This disclaimer will be shown on the screen for two minutes and three seconds longer than the previously scheduled time and will also be accompanied by a voice over.

The producers were also asked to submit copies of the complete script and dialogues, along with necessary documents to prove that the story was inspired by real events. Apart from this, a consent letter regarding the casting of a minor artist in the film was also submitted to the board.

Certificate received on 16th February

After following all the instructions, the film was issued certificate on 16 February. The total duration of the film is 131 minutes 24 seconds i.e. 2 hours 11 minutes 24 seconds.

The film is scheduled to be released in theaters on 27 February 2026. However, the controversy regarding its release is not over yet. The hearing on the petitions filed in the case is going on and the Kerala High Court can give its decision after watching the film.
