This rail-road bridge will connect the two banks of river Ganga in Banaras. This rail-road bridge will have 4 railway tracks and a 6-lane highway will be built on it. Giving information, Cabinet Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that this bridge will connect two districts of Uttar Pradesh, Varanasi-Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay. This new bridge is being built next to the already existing Malviya Bridge. Malviya Bridge is the oldest bridge in the country and is 137 years old. This will be the cost of the project

Giving information, Cabinet Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that the Union Cabinet chaired by PM Narendra Modi on Wednesday approved the Road-Rail Bridge project of the Railway Ministry. The estimated cost of this project is said to be Rs 2,642 crore. The completion of this project will reduce congestion. This bridge will have two floors. There will be four railway tracks on the first floor. On which Vande Bharat train to logistics train will pass. On the other hand, a 6-lane road will be built on the second floor. An additional 24 million tonnes of cargo will be able to move on the road-cum-train bridge.

Employment opportunities will be created

Giving information, the Union Minister said that this project will provide employment opportunities. During the construction of this bridge, direct jobs of about 10 lakh man days will be generated. Apart from this, this project covering 2 districts of Uttar Pradesh will increase the existing network of Indian Railways by about 30 kilometers. This bridge will also help in reducing pollution and transportation cost will also reduce. According to the information, this bridge will help in reducing CO2 emissions (149 crore kilograms), which is equivalent to planting 6 crore trees.

8 crore diesel will be saved every year

With this bridge being built on the Ganga river, the road will become easier and better. Due to which a lot of diesel can also be saved. According to the government, it is estimated that 8 crore diesel will be saved every year through this bridge. This means that this bridge will help people to save Rs 638 crore. Which is considered a big thing in itself. According to the Central Ministry, its design and construction is quite difficult. In such a situation, it may take 2 years to prepare the detailed project report.
