According to BJP sources, the Prime Minister is expected to land at a helipad near Taherpur in Nadia district around 10:30 am and will also attend government programmes during the day. The rally is likely to focus on the Matua communitywhich has a significant presence in Nadia and North 24 Parganas districts.
The visit comes shortly after the publication of draft electoral rolls and amid concerns among sections of the community following the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise that began in November.
This will be Modi’s third trip to Bengal since August. He had earlier addressed public meetings in the state and later visited in September to inaugurate a defence-related event. Party leaders said Taherpur was chosen after an earlier rally planned in Ranaghat had to be cancelled due to adverse weather.
BJP leaders said the Prime Minister is expected to highlight Central government initiatives, infrastructure projects, and the party’s roadmap for West Bengal during the rally.
