Mumbai: Nora Fatehi and Sanjay Dutt’s new song ‘Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke‘ has become the subject of controversies as soon as it was released. This item song, which is from the movie ‘KD: The Devil‘, has become a topic of discussion on social media due to its bold choreography and double meaning lyrics. Many people are trolling it by calling it ‘vulgar’ and ‘obscene’, due to which the song’s lyricist Rakib Alam is also worried.

Lyricist of ‘Sarke Chunar’ came forward as controversy escalated

Rakib Alam recently clarified in a conversation with the media that he has not written these lyrics himself. Actually, he has only translated the original Kannada version written by the film’s director Prem. Rakib said, ‘When the offer for this work came, I had already refused. I had said that such songs can get stuck in censorship. But the producers asked me to do only the literal translation of the Kannada lyrics.

He further added that at the end of the song it is revealed that the track is actually about a liquor bottle, but the beginning lines are so vulgar that it is embarrassing to listen to. Expressing his disappointment, Rakib said, ‘I did not need to write such songs. I feel very humiliated.

After the controversy escalated, the makers removed the Hindi version from various platforms. The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has also issued a notice on the song, with several complaints coming in that the content is inappropriate for children. Some celebrities, such as Armaan Malik, have described it as ‘a new low for commercial songwriting’. Rakib Alam has apologized for this controversy and said that now the makers are preparing a clean version, and are also considering a plan to issue an apology. This incident is once again giving rise to the discussion on the limits of item songs in Bollywood.
