The 'magic' of the 19 year old spinner gave Bangladesh a historic victory, the English team was left wringing its hands.

Bangladesh Cricket Team: 30th October is a very special day for Bangladesh cricket team. On this day, eight years ago, the team had won the historic Test match against England. This was Bangladesh's first victory over a big team that came on the field with full strength. The star of this team's victory was off-spinner Mehdi Hasan, who had turned 19 three days before this Test. In the match, he along with veteran all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan led the team to a historic victory against England. With this win, Bangladesh leveled the two-match series 1-1 after falling behind in Chittagong.

In the match, England had got a challenging target of 273 runs from Bangladesh. There was a century partnership between England openers Alastair Cook and Ben Duckett, putting the team in a strong position before tea and heading towards victory. However, after lunch the story completely changed. Here 19 year old Mirage completely destroyed the top order of England. After the Cook-Duckett pair went to the pavilion, the rest of England's batsmen could not face the spinners of Bangladesh. Both the batsmen were out after completing their fifty.

The situation was such that apart from these two, no other batsman of England could score even 30 runs. Mehdi, who took a total of seven wickets in the Chittagong Test against the English team, proved to be a nightmare for England in this match also. He took 12 wickets in this entire match. Here he got good support from Shakib, who broke the back of England by taking three wickets in one over. Shakib took four wickets in the second innings, which included the valuable wickets of Joe Root and Ben Stokes.

Mehdi took 19 wickets in the entire series, the most by a Bangladesh bowler in any Test series. He started the year 2016 by captaining Bangladesh in the Under-19 World Cup. Here he handled the pressure that comes with captaining a team representing a cricket-mad country brilliantly and impressed everyone with his performance on the field. He was also named 'Player of the Tournament' for his all-round performance.
