Ranchi: Life in Jharkhand has been completely affected due to continuously falling temperatures. The entire Jharkhand including the capital Ranchi is in the grip of cold wave. Friday was the coldest of this season. The minimum temperature in McCluskieganj, Ranchi reached 1.7 degrees Celsius. The mercury in Gumla was also 2.8 degrees and that of Kanke was 3.3 degrees. Dew drops froze in McCluskieganj and Kanke on Friday.

Here, the minimum temperature of Ranchi also reached seven degrees Celsius. In view of the severe cold, all schools up to class 12 in Ranchi have been closed from Saturday till December 31. This order has been issued by Deputy Commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri. Examinations are already organized in the district schools, they have been asked to conduct the examinations as per their convenience. On the other hand, winter vacation has also been declared in government schools from Monday to January 4.

According to the Meteorological Department Centre, cold wave will prevail in Garhwa, Palamu, Latehar, Chatra, Lohardaga and Gumla on Saturday. According to the forecast, the minimum temperature will decrease by two to three degrees in the next two days, while after three days there will be an increase by the same amount. There will be fog in the morning, the weather will be dry during the day but there will be snowfall in North India and cold air coming from western disturbance. The Meteorological Department has appealed to the people to remain alert.
