Monsoon session of UP Legislature will run from 3rd to 6th August, opposition may create ruckus on many issues including theft of Ram Temple offerings.

Lucknow: The monsoon session of the UP Legislature will start from August 3. This will be a short session which will run till 6th August. Its official announcement has been made after the UP Cabinet meeting. This time, the monsoon session of UP is expected to be very hot politically along with legislative work. There may be a heated argument between the party and the opposition in the House regarding the recent cases of theft of Ram Temple offerings.

Samajwadi Party will take a full aggressive stance to corner the government on the Ram Mandir issue. On the other hand, the BJP government will present in the House the complete details of the actions taken since the formation of the SIT. Overall, this time the monsoon session of the UP Legislature is likely to be a complete ruckus.

Opposition is furious over theft of offerings

It is noteworthy that the political atmosphere is constantly active regarding the issue of theft of Ram temple offerings. All the opposition parties including Akhilesh Yadav have strongly criticized the BJP on this issue. Ayodhya Police has arrested eight accused during the SIT investigation. During their interrogation, many secrets of theft of offerings have come to light.

In the cabinet meeting of Yogi government on Tuesday, the proposal to convene the third session of both the houses of Uttar Pradesh Legislature for the year 2026 from August 3 (Monday) was approved. In the upcoming session, supplementary budget for the financial year 2026-27, bills to replace ordinances and other important legislative work will be done.

The second session of the state legislature was convened on 30 April. After the meeting of the Assembly and Legislative Council ended on the same day, the proceedings of both the houses were adjourned indefinitely and the session was prorogued from 7 May 2026. According to Article 174 of the Constitution and the Procedure and Conduct of Business Rules of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly, there cannot be a gap of more than six months between two sessions of the Legislative Assembly. It has been decided to call the upcoming session in accordance with this constitutional arrangement.

In a press conference held at the media center of Lok Bhawan, Finance and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Khanna said that the demands for supplementary grants for the financial year 2026-27 will be presented before the Legislature in the upcoming session. Apart from this, replacement bills for the ordinances promulgated for the implementation of important decisions of the government after the last session will also be presented and passed in the House. Besides, other necessary legislative and government work will also be done.

He said that according to the procedure and business conduct rules of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly, information about the scheduled date of the session is usually made available to the honorable members seven days in advance. According to the decision of the Cabinet, the third session of the Uttar Pradesh Legislature will start from August 3, 2026. During the session, demands for supplementary grants, bills to replace ordinances and other necessary legislative work will be done.
