According to belief, the four pillars present in this temple symbolize the four yugas – Satyayuga, Tretayuga, Dwaparayuga and Kaliyuga. It is believed that: The pillars of Satyayuga, Tretayuga and Dwaparayuga have already been broken, only one last pillar remains, which is considered to be the symbol of Kaliyuga. According to faith, “The day this last pillar also breaks, Kaliyuga will end and the destruction of the earth will be certain.”

Divine Shivalinga hidden among the hills

About 5 feet high Shivalinga is installed in the middle of the cave, which is considered self-sufficient. Devotees believe that Lord Shiva appeared here after rigorous penance and gave birth to this Shivalinga. The gopuram over the cave is made entirely of stone and was built by the Kalachuri dynasty in the sixth century. These caves were discovered in the 11th century and since then this place became considered very sacred for both devotees and historians.
