The need for passwords will end! Heartbeat and breath will unlock the phone, scientists have discovered a new technology
- A new technology called ‘Vital ID’ identifies the user based on heartbeat and breathing patterns.
- This system does not require new hardware, it works with existing motion sensors.
- Tests achieved over 95% accuracy and over 98% unauthorized access blocking.
Technology has advanced a lot in today’s time. Technology is being used in every field. We also use different things in our daily life, which are based on technology. For example we use smartphones in our daily life. From waking up in the morning till going to bed at night, the smartphone is always in our hand. From messaging someone to shopping online, we can easily complete many tasks through smartphones. Smartphones today are much more advanced than ever before. Smartphones have advanced. Scientists are constantly trying to make these smartphones more advanced.
The local company did the maximum! New smartphone launched at just Rs 7,399; Equipped with a 5,000mAh battery and an octa-core processor
You no longer need to remember passwords, PINs or biometric locks for smartphones or other devices. How does this technology work?
This technology uses microscopic vibrations generated by human breathing and heartbeat. These vibrations reach the brain through the neck. Each person’s bone structure and tissues are different, so the pattern of these vibrations is also different for each person. This is why this technology is considered very safe. Interestingly, this does not require any new hardware in the phone. The software can work with motion sensors found in current premium phones. The technology was presented at the ‘2025 ACM Conference on Computer and Communications Security’. This will completely change the way we log-in to various apps, websites and payment systems in the future.

Key findings from the research
The discovery was made by researchers from the New Jersey Institute of Technology, Temple University and Texas A&M University. The XR headset was used on 52 participants in a 10-month trial. The system identified the correct user more than 95 percent of the time. Unauthorized users were denied access in more than 98 percent of cases. The researchers created a ‘filtering system’, which removes interference caused by head movement or changing position to focus only on heartbeats and breathing.
