The new T20I superstar: Abhishek Sharma wreaked havoc in 34 matches, entering the top-5 list
New Delhi. Abhishek Sharma played a blistering innings of 84 runs off 35 balls in the first T20I against New Zealand. For this innings, he was awarded the Player of the Match award. This is his fifth Player of the Match (POTM) award in his T20I career.
Number 1 T20 batsman Abhishek Sharma’s bat attacked fiercely in the first T20 against New Zealand. In the first T20 match played in Nagpur, Abhishek gave India a stormy start, scoring 84 runs off 35 balls. In this innings, he once again hit more sixes than fours. Abhishek hit 8 sixes and 5 fours in his 84 runs. This means that he scored 68 runs from boundaries, which is more than 50 percent. On the basis of this stormy start, Team India managed to reach the score of 238. New Zealand could only score 190 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, and India won the match by 48 runs. Abhishek Sharma was awarded the Player of the Match award for his innings.
This was Abhishek Sharma’s fifth Player of the Match award in his short, impactful T20 career. The 25-year-old has played only 34 T20 matches for India so far.
