Number of MPs is going to increase in Lok Sabha, 815 MPs will come from states and 35 MPs from Union Territories, proposal presented in the House.
New Delhi. The Central Government has presented an important proposal in the Lok Sabha to increase the number of seats in the Lok Sabha. The proposal plans to increase the total seats of the Lok Sabha to approximately 850 seats. It has been said in the proposal that 815 seats can be fixed for the states and 35 seats for the Union Territories. This change will be made as part of the upcoming delimitation process. This step has been taken keeping in mind the ever increasing population in India and the imbalance of political representation between different States and Union Territories. The objective of this proposal is to make the representation of every citizen in the upcoming elections more enriching and transparent.

The biggest advantage of this change will be that according to the increasing population, every State and Union Territories will get more representation in the Parliament, due to which the issues of different areas can be raised in a better way in the elections. After presenting this proposal in the Parliament, it will now have to go through the relevant committees and other legal processes. With the proposed arrangement, it is expected that with the new delimitation, every State and Union Territories will get more representation according to its actual population ratio, which will further strengthen the democratic process of the country.
