The pace of ‘Dhurandhar’ did not stop even after four weeks, domestic collection crossed Rs 739 crore, reached close to the record of ‘Pushpa 2’

Ranveer Singh’s film ‘Dhurandhar’ is continuously performing well at the box office. Even after four weeks of its release, this film remains the first choice of the audience. Even on the occasion of New Year, there was no impact on the pace of the film and it once again retained the number-1 position at the domestic box office. The special thing is that this is the third time in the last four weeks that despite any new release, no one could move ‘Dhurandhar’ from the top.

According to the report of box office tracking website, on January 1, ‘Dhurandhar’ earned a net worth of around Rs 15.75 crore in India. The film’s earnings recorded an increase of nearly 40 percent on New Year’s Day, reflecting its strong word-of-mouth and audience interest. By the end of the fourth week, the total domestic collection of the film has reached Rs 739 crore.

New record made in the fourth week

Generally, it is not easy for any film to earn big money in the fourth week, but ‘Dhurandhar’ broke this notion. The film earned more than Rs 100 crore in its fourth week itself, which is a new record in Indian cinema. With this performance, ‘Dhurandhar’ has now come very close to the Hindi domestic record of Rs 812 crore of ‘Pushpa 2’. The earnings are expected to increase in the coming weekend and it is believed that the film may soon cross the Rs 800 crore mark.

New films did not take off after ‘Dhurandhar’

‘Dhurandhar’ had to compete with many films after its release. First ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ and then ‘Tu Meri Main Tera, Main Tera Tu Meri’ were released on Christmas, but both these films could not leave a special impact among the audience. After this, four weeks after Ranveer Singh’s film, Agastya Nanda’s war based drama film ‘Ikkis’ hit the theatres.

Although ‘Ikkis’ performed better than expected by earning around Rs 7 crore on the first day, yet it could not leave ‘Dhurandhar’ behind. A four-week old film earning twice as much as a new release clearly shows its popularity.

Specialty of the film ‘Dhurandhar’

Directed by Aditya Dhar, ‘Dhurandhar’ is a high-octane espionage thriller, which has impressed the audience at all three levels – story, acting and presentation. The film stars Ranveer Singh along with Akshay Khanna, R. Strong actors like Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt and Arjun Rampal are seen.

Along with domestic success, the film has earned more than Rs 1100 crore worldwide. Looking at the current pace, it is believed that ‘Dhurandhar’ can leave behind the records of all-time blockbuster films like ‘Jawaan’ and ‘KGF Chapter 2’ in the coming time.
