The person with whom the marriage was taking place was accused of rape and blackmail, the groom arrested

A controversial case related to an inter-religious marriage has come to light in Thane district of Maharashtra. After the woman made serious allegations, the police arrested a 20-year-old tailor just before the wedding. The victim alleged that the accused raped her when she was a minor and later blackmailed her for marriage.

According to the police, the accused is a resident of Bhiwandi and has been arrested on the basis of the girl’s complaint. The matter came to light when the couple was about to get married but before the ceremony a commotion broke out and the police had to intervene.

According to the police, when the girl recently turned 18, the accused started pressurizing her to marry him. The girl has alleged that the accused was also blackmailing her and forcing her for inter-religious marriage. On March 6, the girl reached Bhiwandi, where their marriage was scheduled to take place. However, the girl’s family came to know about this even before the marriage and they informed the concerned people about the matter.

Police stopped the marriage

After getting the information, some Hindutva organization workers reached the spot and stopped the Nikah ceremony. After this the girl was taken out from there and handed over to the police. Police said that a case has been registered against the accused under various sections of the POCSO Act and the Indian Penal Code (IPC). This case has been registered at Dombivali police station.

Giving information on the case, Assistant Police Commissioner Suhas Hemade said that the victim has accused the accused of repeatedly pressurizing her for marriage and blackmailing her. At present the police is thoroughly investigating the entire matter. This incident has become a topic of discussion in the area after it came to light and the police say that further legal action will be taken after investigation.

How did both of them meet?

Investigation has revealed that the accused and the victim were identified through social media in the year 2024. At that time the accused was 18 years old while the girl was a minor. During the conversation, the closeness between the two grew and a relationship started between them. The victim alleges that the accused took advantage of her minor status and had physical relations with her several times in the last two years.
