‘The remaining mobile data should be rolled over’…Raghav Chadha’s demand in Parliament, users should get full rights.
Tezzbuzz Desk – Raising an important issue related to mobile users in Parliament, Raghav Chadha has raised questions on the current data policy of telecom companies. During ‘Zero Hour’, he said that crores of mobile users across the country should get their full rights on unused data.
Demand raised for data rollover
Raghav Chadha said that at present, telecom companies give a fixed daily data limit to the users, like 1.5GB or 2GB per day. But if the user is not able to use the entire data on that day, then after 12 midnight the remaining data automatically expires. It is not carried forward to the next day.
Calling this system unfair to the users, he said that when companies charge for the entire data, the remaining data should also be available to the users and not let it expire.
example given from petrol
To explain his point, Raghav Chadha gave the example of petrol. He said that if a person fills 15 liters of petrol and 5 liters of it is left, the petrol pump owner does not ask him to return the remaining petrol. Similarly, users should have full rights over mobile data also.
Demand for data transfer also
Raghav Chadha demanded not only data rollover but also starting the facility of data transfer. He said that just as people can transfer money to each other, mobile data can also be transferred between family or friends.
He told that data rollover facility is already available in many countries of the world like America, Europe, Netherlands and Australia. There the remaining data of the users is added the next day or in the next billing cycle.
