The Revenge’ crosses Rs.100 Crore mark on opening day
It started a day early, with so much enthusiasm and expectations following the blockbuster first part, and by the time the official release came, the numbers had already run ahead.
Dhurandhar 2led by Ranveer Singh, has opened with what many are calling a record that doesn’t quite look real.
The spy thriller crossed Rs. 100 crore mark easily in a single day, something no Hindi film has done before.
But the bigger twist is how it got there. Directed by Aditya Dhar, the action saga began its run with paid previews a day before release.
Those shows alone brought in Rs. 43 crore domestically. It quietly pushed the film into a position where “day one” had already changed the meaning of an opening day.
By Thursday, early estimates suggested Rs. 103 crore from the day’s shows, taking the total to around Rs. 146 crore including previews. The pace has left recent hits behind without much of a fight.
Films like Street 2, pathan, Animal and Jawan all had strong openings, but this one has simply gone past them.
The film is running to record capacities all across the board, and hence the actuals could come even higher as the makers have gone ahead with round-the-clock showcasing, and the footfalls are at an all-time high even for the unconventional show timings
There is also some movement in regional versions. The Telugu dub has picked up early, while Tamil is close.
Ranveer Singh has secured the biggest opening day in Hindi cinema history, strengthening his box office dominance.
His latest film is set to break opening weekend and lifetime records, with a rare chance of giving him the top two highest-grossing films of all time within just three months.
The cast includes R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal and Sanjay Dutt among others.
