After exhibition in Colombo, Sri Lanka, the remains of Lord Buddha’s revered Devannimori were brought back to India.

Mumbai The relics of revered Devanimouri of Lord Buddha have returned to India after a ceremonial departure from Sri Lanka’s Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA). It marks an important moment in India-Sri Lanka civilizational relations. The sacred relics were put on display for the first time at the Gangaramaya Temple in Colombo for an international exhibition from February 4 to 11. The delegation that brought the holy relics back to India was led by Madhya Pradesh Governor Mangubhai C Patel and Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein. He was also accompanied by Shartse Kehnsur Jangchup Choden Rinpoche, Secretary General of the International Buddhist Confederation, and Abhijit Halder, Director General of the International Buddhist Confederation.

The farewell ceremony at BIA was attended by Sri Lanka’s Minister of Buddhist Administration, Religious and Cultural Affairs Hiniduma Sunil Senevi, Deputy Minister of Buddhist Administration, Religious and Cultural Affairs and Santosh Jha, High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka. India’s High Commission in Colombo said in a post on Twitter that the sacred Devanmori remains are returning to India after a ceremonial farewell from Bandaranaike International Airport. The delegation led by Hon’ble Dr. Hiniduma Sunil Senevi, Minister of Buddhashasan, Religious and Cultural Affairs of Sri Lanka, Hon’ble Gamagedara Dissanayake, Deputy Minister of Buddhashasan, Religious and Cultural Affairs of Sri Lanka and Hon’ble Santosh Jha, High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka, Hon’ble Governor of Madhya Pradesh, Shri Mangubhai C. Patel and Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Shri Chauna Meen, led the delegation to India. Were present to watch it being taken back. More than ten lakh devotees came to this exhibition. The Indian High Commission in Colombo also thanked the Sri Lankan people for their love and devotion during the exhibition.
