The rumor of running out of petrol and diesel has been put to rest! Two huge ships full of gas are coming to India after crossing the sea, the government gave a very good news.

New Delhi: Amidst the ongoing tension in West Asia and the chaos over the Strait of Hormuz, rumors of fuel shortage in the country are spreading rapidly. In many cities, people are standing in long queues at petrol pumps out of fear that they might run out of oil. But if you are also thinking of storing petrol and diesel in panic, then stop! The Petroleum Ministry of the Government of India has made it clear that there is ample stock of fuel in the country and there is no need to panic. Our refineries are operating at full capacity and the supply chain is completely secure.

Government tightened its grip on rumours, took this big step

In the shadow of war, false news of fuel shortage had created a stir in the market. Clarifying this situation, Joint Secretary of Petroleum Ministry, Sujata Sharma said that there is no shortage of petrol and diesel in the country. To provide relief to the public, the government has also made a big reduction of Rs 10 per liter in the excise duty on petrol and diesel. Not only this, to maintain supply within the country, the government has imposed additional duty on the export of diesel and aviation fuel (ATF) so that domestic needs are met first.

Big relief is coming by sea

The government has also given relief news regarding LPG and PNG. According to Rajesh Sinha of the Port Department, two very huge ships are heading towards India through the Strait of Hormuz. One of these ships will reach Mumbai tomorrow and the other will reach Mangalore port on April 1. Both these ships are loaded with about 94 metric tons (MT) of LPG, which is enough to meet the needs of the country. In just the last two days, 1.04 crore cylinders have been booked across the country, out of which 92 lakh have been successfully delivered.

Expansion of PNG network and supply to industries

The government is emphasizing not only on cylinders but also on piped gas (PNG). In the month of March alone, 2.9 lakh new PNG connections have been given. 80% gas supply to industries and 70-75% gas supply to fertilizer factories is being ensured continuously. This means that neither the kitchen budget will be affected nor will there be any hindrance in farming work. The government has made it clear that the international situation is certainly challenging, but India’s energy infrastructure is completely strong.

‘Surgical strike’ on black marketers

Those who are profiteering by taking advantage of this crisis are no longer in good hands. The government has raided around 2,900 locations across the country to stop hoarding, in which more than 1,000 illegal cylinders have been seized. The availability of commercial gas has also been increased to 70%. The central government has instructed all the states to submit daily reports and take strict action against those spreading rumours. An appeal has been made to the general public to buy fuel only as per requirement and not fall prey to rumours.
