‘The second chapter in originally planned trilogy’
Tumbbad Director Rahil Anil Barve took to X on Friday to share some details about Imaginecalling it ‘the second chapter in originally planned trilogy after Tumbbad’. He also announced that the film will be released in 2026.
Rahi shared a poster where the concept note of the film was written in Devnagari. Translated in English, it reads, “In history, women had power over the world. The world used to run wisely. But then a devastating flood came… there was no milk left in the bosom of the matriarch to feed the world. At the same time a unique power came to earth. Pahadpangira. No one knows who it was or how it looked. With Pahadpangira came the rise of patriarchy. But no man has ever seen Pahadpangira with his own eyes.”
Earlier, Rahi announced that he will not be returning to helm tomb 2which was announced recently by Sohum Shah, who served as the producer and actor for Tumbbad. Rahi said on social media, “For decades I worked on this insane trilogy with many producers changing in between. First was the greed of patriarchy. My personal and much darker version of father, son and the holy ghost. Second deals with the dawn of feminism and holier than holy satipratha – Imagine. Third, the end of this trilogy will be Pakshitirtha. That’s all I have to say for now.”
He had also mentioned in the post that he will start production on Imagine in 2025. Meanwhile, Tomb 2 is a separate film which is set to be helmed by Adesh Prasad, who served as the co-director on Tumbbad.
Rahi also has two web-series in the pipeline, Gulkanda Tales and Blood Bramand.
