Very few people would know that the careers of Sharda Sinha and superstar Salman Khan in Bollywood started almost simultaneously. Salman Khan debuted as a lead actor with the film ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’. Sharda Sinha got her first break in Hindi films from the song ‘Kahe To Se Sajna’ from this film. This song of his is still in people’s minds even after so many years.

How did Sharda Sinha get the song?

While narrating the story of getting the song, Sharda Sinha said in a program of Sansad TV, “Very big name, Tarachand Barjatya ji. I was in Mumbai for the recording of my Bhojpuri film. Mine was an HMV cassette. It was a tribute to Maithili Kokil Vidyapati. He used to listen to Tarachand Barjatya. These were the compositions of Vidyapati. He liked her very much… A letter came from him saying that I have worn out hearing your tribute and I am not able to get it. Please, if you have it, please send it to me.”

He further said, “It was about those days. I was recording in Bombay Lab. So they came to know that I have come, there is Bhavna building nearby, where Rajshree’s office is. They sent the news that you are here, I know. After here, you are called there. You have to meet there. He has called to meet. I went to meet him. He offered again. Said that we like your voice very much. We want to have one of your songs in our film. I said okay, we will definitely sing.” It was the same song, ‘Kahe To Se Sajna’.
